In 2019 developer, educator, and artist Jake Adams, also known as Valholo, created the first digital holographic comic book, or holocomic. His journey started with the first generation of digital holographic displays created by Looking Glass.
Valholo's first holocomic Maldacena: MFR was an experiment and exploration aimed at revolutionizing how we read and interact with comic books. The objective for this practice based research was to allow traditional techniques of comic books researched and implemented by Jack Kirby, Will Eisner and Scott McCloud to inform the creation of a comic book made for the Looking Glass holographic display.

As new ideas emerged along with the technology, Valholo tackled another milestone with his second iteration of holocomics, Aphid Through the Looking Glass. Where the protagonist goes on a relentless search for the meaning of home with her trusty friend Biggy the cat.

Within Aphid: TTLG, a psychedelic and surreal experience awaits, captivating your senses with depth defying imagery, animation, and sound. A search for the meaning of home awaits you in the separation of violet into red and blue.
Created for the Looking Glass Portrait display, Aphid Through the Looking Glass is available for download here.
